An uninterruptible power supply (UPS), offers guaranteed power protection for connected electronics. When power is interrupted, or fluctuates outside safe levels, a UPS will instantly provide clean battery backup power and surge protection for plugged-in, sensitive equipment. This unit delivers enough battery backup to power connected electronics through utility power failure and enough runtime to perform a graceful shutdown to protect against the loss of data and damage to valuable electronics during longer outages. In tests we were able to maintain power for approximately 30 minutes with a Penguin Pro desktop system and 21" monitor connected. Automatic suspend and/or shutdown functionality built into most distributions can ensure your data is not lost even when you are not able to immediately shut down a system yourself.
