How does it work?

Connect a USB 4G Modem:

Plug in the USB 4G modem to the travel router's USB-A port. The router will switch routing the traffic over to the 4G connection and then bring up the PenguinVPN connection. After that all traffic will be routed through the VPN connection.

Switch to Hotel Wi-Fi:

Go to https://192.168.4.1, log in to the router, then:
1. Navigate to Network > Wireless
2. Click Scan
3. Select the access point you want to connect through and enter any required password
4. Open a new tab or wait for the OS to present a captive portal
5. Click the 'I agree' button

The router will automatically detect full internet connectivity and automatically bring up the PenguinVPN connection.

* A USB 4G modem and PenguinVPN subscription offered below are required for full functionality.

* Additional note: The router will bring the wifi connection down if you don't click the 'i agree' button of the captive portal within 3 minutes.

* The router will not bring up any connections on boot. Connect a 4G modem or select an access point/restart the radio/wifi to connect.

Different regions have different power standards and plugs. Select the one appropriate to your region. To use the USB port you will need more power than the stock adapter can provide. Upgraded power adapter options are available from us for some regions.

Is your system in a hard to reach location? Don't let a desk or other barrier hinder your signal. Upgrade to our 5dBi antennas or better yet our 7dBi omni directional WiFi booster antenna w/ extension cable and place your antennas in the optimal spot.

If you're on the edge of a reception area and need just a little more oomph to get that signal through consider picking up our premium 4G LTE antennas. The antennas connect to the 4G modem via a small CRC9 adapter.

Some providers make obtaining service difficult. To ensure a more seamless user experience we recommend picking up a SIM card with your purchase. Data/service not included w/ sim; see plan info.

Don't have a VPN subscription yet? Subscribe to our PenguinVPN service and we'll configure the device to work “out of the box”. Our configuration protects against TunnelVision / DHCP option 121 attacks where a rogue ISP may attempt to hijack your VPN.

Connecting multiple PCs? Get our 4-port Ethernet Splitter or an 8-Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch. See our example diagram on connecting a switch/splitter to one of our routers.
